Medline | Dufort et Lavigne Announce New Distribution Centre in Terrebonne
To achieve Operational Excellence and better serve our customers, Medline Canada is investing in our infrastructure and opening a 130,000+ square foot distribution centre located in Terrebonne (in the greater Montreal area) in May 2021. Once our move is completed, our location at 8581 Place Marien will be closed.
Medline Canada's higher mission of Together Improving Lives is the driving force behind this decision. Our goal is to serve Canadian Healthcare efficiently - from our customers, partners and vendors to our employees and communities.
This new distribution centre, located at 3055 Rue Anderson, Unit 105, Terrebonne, Quebec J6Y 1W5, demonstrates Medline's commitment to serving the continuum of care in Quebec and throughout Canada. This new location will allow us to scale and meet our customers' healthcare needs now and into the future and deliver a great customer experience. Our decision to invest and establish this new Distribution Centre was made long before the COVID-19 pandemic, and we have developed a comprehensive transition plan to ensure seamless service continuity.
We will begin operating in Terrebonne in May. Until at least September, we will continue to support our office employees to work from home to prevent any disruption to office-related activities.

While these accounting changes can be made immediately, payments already made or en route to our Place Marien location will not be affected.
This is yet another example of our commitment to building and investing in Canada, along with last year's opening of our Guelph, ON Distribution Centre and our commitment to keeping our facility in Quebec City by signing a new ten-year lease and planning additional capital equipment investments to be made there.

Since January 2020, the strong global demand for medical supplies, and more specifically for personal protective equipment (PPE), has had two main effects:
» Increased Backorder situations, limits of supply and inability to meet new demand
» Increase in costs passed onto Medline Canada (due to cost of raw materials, processing costs, transportation costs, etc.)
While our procurement and management teams work to reach agreements with manufacturers to minimize the impact of price increases on our customers, increases are unfortunately unavoidable. For example, the cost of acquiring masks has increased by more than 300%.
Please note that we are aware of the impact that such a price increase can have on the budget of a clinic, hospital, nursing home or care facility or for anyone requiring medical supplies.
For that reason, we remain committed to maintaining, as far as possible, our pre-pandemic prices. However, faced with this new reality, we will have to adjust prices on certain products. These increases reflect our new acquisition costs. Medline | Dufort et Lavigne will not take advantage of the situation to increase its profit margins. These will remain the same.
In addition, you can rest assured that Medline | Dufort et Lavigne offers you only quality medical products certified by Health Canada. We have been very selective in establishing relationships with the new suppliers that have emerged in the market. We declined offers from those who could not guarantee the qualityand certification of their products. We believe that products that protect must be fully tested and safe under all circumstances.

Given the high demand for products in regards to the Coronavirus, Medline | Dufort et Lavigne states that, as regards selling N95 respirators, masks, protective (gowns) and disinfecting products (alcohol), priority must be given to designated clinics, hospitals and CHSLDs in Québec.
Sales to our other customers are restricted and allocation is based on purchasing patterns and product availability.
Selling any of these products outside of the province of Québec is forbidden.
Priority will be given to Québec hospitals for which a contract has been signed for protective products.
For our other customers – Primary Care – who have been buying these products in the past or are bound by a purchasing agreement with Medline | Dufort et Lavigne which includes protective products, you must contact our customer service department to make a request.
We will then inform you of the availability of the requested product or recommend a substitute product, if necessary.

This change does not in any way affect your business habits. Our phone number (as well as extension numbers) and email addresses remain unchanged. You will also continue to simply make cheques payable to Dufort et Lavigne.
